Celebrate the Lord

Dance!
Celebrate the Lord!
Rejoice!
For his love is everlasting!

Bow!
Before our God, Most High!
Cry out!
The glory due his name!

The Lord our God is worthy of all praise.
All creation declares his majesty.

The angels bow before him day and night.
And the saints shall shout with glorious adoration!

So

Dance!
Celebrate the Lord!
Rejoice!
For his love is everlasting!

Bow!
Before the God, Most High!
Cry out!
The glory due his name!

Could it be?

Could it be the silence passing by
Is simply God listening
To your cries as you weep through the night
In his arms, trembling?

Gently he wipes your tears away
As he hugs you closely
So that you may hear the steady beat
Of his heart's compassion.

Quietly he penetrates your heart,
Unveiling layers of confusion
And as he cleanses away all the sin
He offers you forgiveness.

Repentence gives way to holy joy,
Prompting songs and laughter.
With abandon, you leap up and dance
In the company of praising angels.

Could it be the silence passing by
Is simply God listening
To your praises sung all through the night
In his arms, safely?

Holy Imprint

Holy God
Before your throne
I bow my face
To you alone.

Holy God
In brokenness
I give my heart.
Make it your own.

Imprint your will
Upon my soul.
Please purify
And make me whole.

Out of my lips
May praise ring true
That I may bring
Glory to you.

September 2006 by Glen Alan Woods

I wrote this simple chorus while driving to my parent's house this afternoon. It is hard to explain, but I sensed the presence of the Lord throughout the process, birthing lyric and worship in a blend of intimate devotion.

By Faith

Verse 1

A clean heart is our desire
Please purify us with holy fire.
Our sins we confess before your face,
Your righteousness imputed by grace.

Bridge

By faith we trust your finished work,
Your sinless life,
Your selfless death.

By faith we sing of victory.
You rose again
Bodily.

Chorus

Cleanse our hearts, our minds, our hands.
May your praise spread throughout the lands!
As we declare your wondrous grace
May nations bow before your face!

Verse 2

With thankful hearts we praise!
In adoration we extol your name!
We sing of your great grace,
So that our children will seek your face!

For Jesus Christ

This generation needs your touch,
A visitation of the Holy.
Adrift without a guiding compass,
We need an anchor to hold us firm.

So to your Holy Word we turn
To meditate and commit to memory.
As your Spirit illumines your Word,
We live it out in Jesus Christ's honor.

With new eyes we see, and
With new ears we hear, and
With new minds we think, and
With new hearts we love

More like Jesus Christ
In a daily journey of growth,
Putting off the old,
Being transformed to the new.

More like Jesus Christ,
His character formed in us,
Forgetting what is past,
Beholding the cross we now must bear

For Jesus Christ.

He Imagined

Jimmy looked across the street at the bicycles the big boys rode. He glanced down at the pedals of his tricycle and pedaled faster. The wind whipped through his hair and he smiled as he imagined the day that he would be big enough to ride his own bicycle.

He would be big. And strong. And special just like his daddy told him.
He would be smart. And kind. And helpful just like his mommy said he is.

A few years later, Jimmy noticed the older boys learning to drive their cars. He looked down at the pedals of his bicycle and pedaled faster. The wind whipped through his hair and he smiled as he imagined the day that he would be big enough to learn to drive his daddy's car.

He would be big. And strong. And special just like his daddy told him.
He would be smart. And kind. And helpful just like his mommy said he is.

An older boy now, Jimmy noticed the young men teaching their little ones to ride tricycles. He placed both hands on the steering wheel and concentrated on his driving. The wind whipped through his hair and he smiled as he imagined that he would someday teach his own child how to ride a tricycle.

He would be big. And strong. And special just like his daddy told him.
He would be smart. And kind. And helpful just like his mommy said he is.

Jimmy looked toward his home. He hugged his wife and laughed with joy. A gaggle of family and close friends gathered with all their children. The wind whipped through his hair and he smiled as he imagined the day that his little boy would grow out of his tricycle.

He would be big. And strong. And special just like his daddy told him.
He would be smart. And kind. And helpful just like his mommy said he is.

Within the Veil

Verse One

Let us now come into that room
Within the veil that was torn.
Freely he welcome us
To enter the Holiest.

Chorus

By the precious blood of Jesus Christ
We have boldness to enter in.
By a new and living way
Which he consecrated for us.

Bridge

Through the veil, his torn flesh
Through the veil, his broken body.

Verse Two

Let us draw near with true heart
In full assurance of faith.
Let our hearts be purified
From an evil conscience.

Repeat Chorus And Bridge

Verse Three

Let us hold fast the confession
Of our hope unwavering.
For he who promised is the the great high priest
And he will always be faithful

Tender Melodies

In the coolness of the morning breeze
The wild birds waken me gently
While dancing on the tips of soaring trees.

Their voices rise in tender melodies
Inviting me to join and sing
Lifting up the Maker of all things.

Chorus:

We sing,

"Praise to the Holy One!
Praise to the Risen Son!
Praise to the Lord Jesus Christ!"

Repeat chorus once.

In the joyous glow of heartfelt song
Their wings take flight and they soar strong
Gliding through the skies where they belong.

Their voices rise in tender melodies
Inviting me to join and sing
Lifting up the Maker of all things.

Repeat chorus four times.

In the Face of Whispering Wind

They kneel down in the face of whispering wind.
The joy of the Lord fills them now.
And they know that the Holy One is near.
As the glory of the Lord descends, they bow.

The men of God worship with holy hands
Lifted to the sky in trusting praise.
The women of God declare anthems of praise
Ascribing honor to the Ancient of Days!

They kneel down in the face of whispering wind.
The joy of the Lord fills them now.
And they know that the Holy One is near.
As the glory of the Lord descends, they bow.

The little children shout out loud their songs of joy.
They dance before the Lord with great delight.
The throng of saints rushes in to join.
Honoring the Lord with all their might!

They kneel down in the face of whispering wind.
The joy of the Lord fills them now.
And they know that the Holy One is near.
As the glory of the Lord descends, they bow.

For the Joy

For the joy we choose to embrace
Within the pain of suffering
In boldness we live out faith
Focused on hope in simplicity.

Through storms and drought we seek our place
Before the face of the Lord Jesus.
In obscurity alone
We bow down low and worship him.

and

He hears.
He knows.
He responds.
He loves.

ForHe is holy!
He is high and lifted up!
He is holy!
Exalted over everything!

He is holy!
He is perfect and without sin!

The Holy One incarnate
Son of God and Son of Man
For the joy he chose to embrace
He gives us hope.

We Praise

For the joy you have given us
We lift up this song,
Thanking you for mercy
On this grateful throng.

With our voices in harmony
We declare our love,
Dancing in worship
To the Lord God above.

And so we praise the Father!
To the mighty God we sing!
And so we praise Jesus Christ,
Creator of everything!

And so we praise the Spirit
Who guides us to our King!
We will shout and dance our praise!
We will glorify our King!
